Acceptable Use Policy

In Adventist schools Internet use and policies should demonstrate respect for God, others, and self.

Your conference may have a required Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for you to use. If not, the following information will provide resources to help you develop your own AUP.

The following elements are recommended to be included in your school's AUP:

  • Need date and signature (agreement to live by policies): parent and student
  • A philosophy statement built on respect for other users, for self, and for God
  • Respect for system resources
  • Copyright/plagiarism
  • User accounts/privacy
  • Access a privilege not a right
  • Monitoring
  • Personal safety
  • Penalties
  • Limitation of liability
  • Appeal
  • Identify acceptable uses of the Internet
  • "The school's "Acceptable Use Policy" does not allow anyone to publish texts, images, or any other information about (your school name) Adventist School and its students, faculty, or staff without the permission of the school's administration. Regardless of where a student accesses the Internet--at home, at school, or in any other place--the student is in violation of the school's policy if the student violates this prohibition." (This statement should be in all AUP's)
